QR code generator with no tracking

A static QR code contains your destination and nothing else. No redirect, no identifier, no analytics. It is built in your browser, so what you encode never reaches us, and scanning it tells nobody anything. Make one below, free and with no account.

Where tracking gets into a QR code

A QR code is a string of text drawn as squares. It cannot run anything or record anything. Tracking is never in the pattern itself, it is in what the pattern says, so there are exactly three places it can come from.

  • A redirect in the middle.

This is what a dynamic code is. The code encodes a short link owned by the generator, which logs the scan and forwards the visitor on. It is the default at most tools, and it is the only one of the three that is invisible to the person scanning.

  • Parameters in your own URL.

Campaign tags such as utm_source are part of the address, so they are encoded into the pattern and sent to your analytics on arrival. They are also readable by anyone who decodes the image.

  • The destination itself.

This is the big one, and it has nothing to do with the code. A clean static code pointing at a page full of third-party scripts gets the visitor tracked exactly as much as visiting that page any other way.

A static code from here has none of the first, whatever you choose to put in the second, and no influence at all over the third. Anyone can decode the image with any scanner app and read the destination in full, which is worth knowing: a QR code conceals nothing, it just makes the address inconvenient to read by eye.

What we can and cannot see

Static generation happens entirely in your browser. The URL, the Wi-Fi password, the contact details, none of it is sent to us, and we could not log it if we wanted to. We do count that a download happened, with no record of what was in it, and that is the whole of it.

Dynamic codes are the opposite and we will not pretend otherwise. A dynamic code is a short link on our domain that redirects to your page, so every scan passes through our servers and is logged. That is the feature: the scan counts, the map and the device breakdown all come from those records. If you do not want scans recorded, do not use a dynamic code, and nothing on this page pushes you towards one.

If tracking is your concern and you also need to change the destination later, the honest answer is that those two wants are in conflict. Point a static code at a URL on your own domain and set up the redirect there. You keep the ability to change where it goes, and the logs stay with you instead of with us.

What noQRap commits to

  • Use it without an account

Static QR codes need no email, no signup and no account of any kind.

  • Free PNG and SVG download

Both formats, full resolution, no account. Vector export is the thing most generators put behind a signup.

  • No watermark, ever

Nothing is stamped on your code on any plan, including the free one.

  • Static codes never expire

A static code has the URL encoded directly in it. It cannot be switched off later, by us or anyone else.

  • Your URL never reaches our servers

Static codes are generated entirely in your browser. We could not log what you encode if we wanted to.

  • Dynamic codes are the only paid part

Trackable, editable codes run through our servers, so they need an account. Free covers 5 codes and 500 scans a month; paid starts at $3.

Static or dynamic for this?

Static, without qualification: a dynamic code works by recording every scan, so it is the wrong tool for anyone who came to this page.

A static QR code has the URL encoded directly in the pattern. It works forever and offline, but the destination can never be changed. A dynamic QR code is a short link that redirects, so you can edit the destination and count scans after the code is printed. Static codes are free here with no account. Dynamic codes need a free account (5 codes and 500 scans a month), and paid plans start at $3/month.
